FEMA Independent Study (IS) courses are the Emergency Management Institute (EMI) distance learning courses. Courses at the site are intended for emergency management personnel, fire service personnel, first responders, Department of Homeland Security personnel, and the general public.

AA9PW practice exam site adds Extra 2008

The AA9PW practice exam site now has the new Extra Class 2008 examination ready. Users who plan to upgrade to Extra after June 30, 2008 can now use this resource to take practice Extra Class exams that are derived from the new question pool. The current question pool expires after June 30, so there is less than a month to upgrade under the current pool.

Last week we were at HAMVENTION®, and with so much time out of the office and on the road, it takes a little time to catch up with all of the usual office duties. I have some photos with captions for you later on. I don't want this particular edition to be all about the hamfest, so in upcoming weeks I'll be sharing some thoughts with you on various aspects of the world's largest amateur radio get-together.

Often times it is difficult to get technical support when you need it, right? And some of us like to try to figure things out ourselves before calling for help anyway. Screenreading software programs are wonderful, but using them can be daunting, especially for users who have not grown up learning this technology through their school years.
