Handiham Net Schedule Updated: Extended CW Net times, new EchoLink Node

Handiham Net Schedule, Effective May 12, 2008

Join our worldwide EchoLink net every day but Sunday. All licensed operators are welcome. The net is controlled but informal, and there is no need to be a Handiham member to participate. Sometimes the net control station will throw out a discussion topic to liven things up! Listen in a few times if you are shy, and then take the plunge and throw out your callsign.

Days: Monday through Saturday, and Sunday if anyone wants to take an informal session.

At HAMVENTION: Don't tell me it can't be done!

Saturday, May 17, 2008 10:15 AM - 11:15 AM - Forum Room 2

Moderator and Speaker
Dr. Tom Behler, KB8TYJ

Dr. Thomas Behler, a ham radio operator with a vision impairment, and Professor of Sociology at Ferris State University in Michigan, will present his thoughts on the breadth of our hobby and its applications for many different people.

AIR Foundation: Free screenreader access

You may be able to afford using a computer! If you are blind and have despaired that you would never be able to afford a screenreading program, think again. Help is at hand - all you need is a computer and Internet access. Handiham members who have been putting off this major step in technology can now consider a computer without having to worry about buying a thousand dollar screenreader package.

Looking for information: Does anyone know if Ham radio is providing post-storm emergency communications in Myanmar (Burma) (XZ)?

Last Saturday Myanmar's Irrawaddy Delta was devastated by Cyclone Nargis. Myanmar, also known as Burma, uses amateur radio prefix XZ. According to ARRL, until recently Amateur Radio has been banned in the Socialist Republic of the Union of Burma.
