The Handiham System operates two HF (short-wave) remote base stations for its members. The project was conceived in 2008, and began in earnest in 2009 with the installation of a Kenwood TS-480SAT transceiver at Camp Courage North, Lake George, Minnesota. The station was set up by Handiham volunteer Lyle Koehler, K0LR, and Handiham Manager Pat Tice, WA0TDA, with antenna help from volunteer Bill Jones, N0CIC, who is an expert getting antennas up into trees.
